The airport is located 16 km from the capital city of France. It occupies 3260 ha. It is also called Paris – Roissy – Charles de Gaulle Airport.
An aircraft takes off every half a minute; four runways allows for that. There are three terminals. Terminal 1 is the oldest and adjoins Terminal 3. Terminal 2 is located at a different place. It is divided into 7 minor terminals. Initially, it was supposed to be devoted to Air France only. However, with the course of time, it started to host different airlines as well. You can move between the terminals using a free-of-charge train.
The passengers shouldn’t complain about the lack of attractions. They are provided by restaurants, shops and service points. Nevertheless, Charles de Gaulle Airport is connected to a tragic story. In May 2014, right after the opening of Terminal 2E, a part of the building collapsed and killed 4 people, three people were injured. Interestingly, the designer of this terminal was Paul Adreu – the designer of Terminal 3 at Dubai Airport, which collapsed during construction.
